Canon EOS 20D

For all digital photography lovers, this camera will be an affordable all in one masterpiece. No this isnt any advertisement for Canon, but expressing my appreciation of a professional world class photographic equipment. As it goes without saying, Canon has made this camera 'affordable'. The EOS 20D is the successor to the popular EOS 10D with nearly 30 additional features. Am reminded of the popular saying in the world of Photogpraphy: "Nikon makes the best lenses, Minolta makes the best bodies and Canon makes the best compromise". This 'compromise is what propelled canon as the world leader in Photography which was dominated by Nikon in the 70s and 80s.
Am all thrilled about this new camera, and it came as a surprise to everyone. No leaks from canon, no advertisement hype, nothing. A couple of days back, as usual I open DP review and there it was the first headline. All the features of the camera can be found at the website.

Some key points I liked about the camera as compared to the competition

9 point autofocus screen. ( This is the first to be featured on any SLR camera ). Canon did this before also with their 7 point autofocus system.
5 fps continuous shooting upto 23 frames ( Nikon D70 has 3fps ) fps - frames per second
Faster top shutter speed 1/8000 sec. ( Nikon D70 has 1/4000 ).
8.2 Mega pixels. ( the only other 8.2 MP camera is the eos 1D mark II which costs like 3,600 $ )
A lighter and smaller magnesium alloy body
Power on time 0.2 secs - ( Nikon D70 has 0.3 secs )

All this at a price of 1,500 US$ . Its a steal. Am just waiting to get my hands on this masterpiece.
Clearly this camera is not aimed at competing with D70 because of the price difference. The D70 costs 1000$. But then a guy like me would think of all the above mentioned benefits for 500$ more and would go for it. I somehow did'nt have any great inclination for Canon camera bodies. I adored Nikon for their rugged bodies but then this camera has changed my perspective. Kudos to Canon.
